It has been forever since I have done an illustration, but a project came up at my internship to do one! So exciting! what do ya'll think?

The idea was, My office wanted to have a sign for this area of the office they call the chuckle hut. Our company logo involves two stags so I wanted to use a stag in the final image.

California Girl

So today I went to the DMV and got my license! So im officially a California girl now! Yay!
Lately I've been doing some more work on my leave behind, I have a concept for it and its kinda cheesy but I like it that way lol. Fits my personality.
I finished the ad for Pocket Opera. It's very simple and small, but it's published so woohoo! haha.

I alllmmoosst moved into an apartment... I found out about this place on craig's list and met the people who would be my roommates... the apartment was super cool and so were the guys... but they needed someone to fill the room by the first of may which at that time gave me 1 day to think about it... it was just too fast for me, as cool as that place was I still don't know a lot about the diff neighborhoods and I don't know where I will be working so I thought, well... I should prob take a step back and figure out for sure what I want first. I was not even sure at the time if they were going to choose me as the one to move in, they had another interview with someone the day after mine. turns out they were going to ask me to move in ,but they were cool about it, and totally understood my reasoning. Anyways were going to try and hang out some time so even though I don't have an apartment, I did get two possible friends.. so I think that's still a win. and plus... that place may be available again in a couple months, so If I'm able to, I can move then if that's what I decide is best for me. :)

ok what else is going on... lots of rain here, I bought an umbrella which both opens and closes with just he touch of a button! I think that's supper cool even if its old news technology lol.

Oh I met with a fellow scad grad! This guy I knew like freshman year at SCAD works in a near by city so we met up downtown and went to the SFMOMA and the cartoon museum! That was a lot of fun. The cartoon museum had a great exhibit from the watchmen movie complete with costumes and props. haha It made me think of my old roomie branson cause he loves the watchmen book, he lent it to me when we were living together.

So i've been keeping busy with small projects here and there and exploration trips. I know I said this last time, but I really need to update more often than I am cause I forget what has happened, and the point of this blog is to document my experiences here in SF.

Well tomorrow I'm going to vacuum and go to Pocket Opera to do some good ol' administrative stuff. :) Good night my friends!

Stuff Stuff and More Stuff

Well its almost been a week since my last update!

I have been keeping busy. Exploring and getting to know the city and diff neighborhoods more, searching for apartments (I had an interview with some roommates for an apartment on wed so we shall see what happens) .

I went to the Pocket Opera office and worked a good sized shift and did a ton of filing and organizing and label making. They asked me to help them with some advertising so I will be doing at least one ad for them so yay for portfolio and resume building! Speaking of that, I took on another project for a massuse and will be doing an ad for a magazine as well as an informational brochure and possabley a business card.

I've also been continueing my networking. I have a lunch set up for next week and just today learnd of another contact who will hopefully at least be able to give me some advice and direction. She is quite accomplished in a couple feilds including marketing and design and worked with companies like wired magazine, vouge and Vainaty fair magazine so Im very much looking forward to talking with her.

Today I went to the printer to get my portfolio, well..printed lol, and either today or tomorrow im going to head down town to check out some art stores to look at portfolio cases.

Im still practicing for job interviews and thinking of any possable answers/ situations/information I could give, as well as questions I can ask them in responce to their questions as well for the conclusion of the interview.

I also found out about another agency through my aunt that I would like to apply to, so that makes a total of 33 on my list so far lol.

I'm Currently doing a personal project. Im compleatly redoing my leavebehind... Im still kinda unsure what direction I want to take with it but im doing comps for now and geting my ideas down... I know I want it to match my website and business card, but thats a given. Speaking of my website, It's comming along. Hopeully it will be done soon and then I can post the link for all to see! haha.

Lets see what else... I went out to eat last night in Potereo hill, great Chinese resurant! and omg... the view of down town SF is AMAZING at night from potrero hill! I would love to live there... I did a google search of the demographics of the city and it seems like a good fit cause its on the yougish side... 20's and 30's as well as its full of singles! Woo boys! haha Im such a research dork. lol but better to know that now insted of moving there and then being surrounded by 80 year olds and maried couples... not as exciting for me hahaa. But yea, geourgs view... and also since its up on a good sized hill it does not get as much fog as the rest of the city, so its a big warmer witht he sunshine. But we shall see , its not the only neighborhood im looking at.

Well... Thats all I can think of for the moment... I'll try not to wait another week before my next post!

Untill then!

Exploring The City

For the past couple days I have been exploring different parts of San Francisco. First I went off by myself to the down town area and went up and down Market street. At the end (or beginning depending on what direction you are coming from :p) of market street is the Embarcadero. There were some people selling different things at little stands and I looked around. This one guy was a photographer and had all of these neat photos of graffiti from all around SF and NY and some in Portland. He was telling me most of these are not even around anymore cause the cities cleaned it up. He was so funny cause when I was looking at his stuff he was like, omg your georgouse! Few peoople get me like that (beats hand on chest like a heart beat) hahaha. I don't know if he was just trying to flatter me so I would buy something but I dont really care cause it still felt good to get a complement like that! Haha.

It was pretty overwhelming with alllll that was around me downtown, but I had a good time. Next time I go downtown I'll go down a different street and see what other fun things I can find.

Yesterday I went off with Robert (Paulas husband) and George (Roberts caregiver) to explore Golden gate park, Ocean beach and drove around Pacific heights to look at the big houses for fun. It was a beautiful day outside. It hit 70! We had lunch at this cool little resturant that overlooked this place where these ruins from the bathhouses used to be in the 1920s. We watched the ships go in and out of the bay as the tide slowly came in as we ate. It's a beautiful place. If anyone comes to visit me I'm taking you there casue its good food with reasonable prices with an awesome view!

Today Is a more mellow day. I'm Going to help paula around the house and get a few things done for myself as well.

Tomorrow is going to be fun cause Paula and I will be going to the Pocket opera!
( http://www.pocketopera.org/ ) This is the company That I will be volunteering with, doing mostly administrative type work. Anywho, We will be going to one of their shows, I think its called the Haunted Manor. Im excited. Gives me an excuse to dress up haha.

So thats it for now! More updates later!

The eagle has landed...

Ok! I'm here! good ol' San Francisco! I was so excited all of yesterday cause that's when I flew out. I had one stop on my way here in Chicago where I met up with Jill and Rachael at the airport! It was soooo good seeing them.. it felt like we never left savannah, it was a great time! I miss them both already a lot. It will be exciting once I find an apartment here and poeple can come visit!

This morning I "slept in" till 9am. haha gotta love the time change. Paula (the woman I am staying with) her husband Robert and I went out for lunch today and she showed me around a fun street close by that is full of resturants, shops and some bars. After lunch she headed back to the house and I continued on to walgreens to stock up on stuff I did not pack like shampoo and that sort of thing.

It was a great walk. The weather is nice but has a cold wind that gets you. I have been reasearching resturants in the area. For being as expensive of a city as it is, there sure are a lot of great places to eat that are not expensive at all! Thank god casue I love to eat out...Yukiko and Allan if your reading this...shut up lol...I just realized what I typed but I decided not to deleat it cause its funny... but anyways I do love eating at resturants!

I have been talking to paula about diff volenteer opertunities, and she might be able to hook me up with this company called pocket opera. I can hopefully work for them to keep busy while I'm job hunting for a career type job. Hooray! Things keep just falling into place. Im so excited I hope it all works out... what am I talking about, no "I hope", It WILL!! keeping positive ;)

I will continue with updates as they happen!
